In meteorology, the meteorological station is a set of measuring instruments that allow to control and monitor the physical conditions of the atmosphere in a given place, for an indefinite time, in relation to its fundamental parameters, for meteorological and climatic purposes. It can be set up in any point of the earth's surface: in the plains, hills, mountains or in the open sea. The atmospheric parameters at high altitudes far from the earth's surface are instead measured by means of sounding balloons, airplanes and meteorological satellites.
