Today is Global Wind Day, the international awareness initiative dedicated to wind power and promoted in Italy by the ANEV (National Wind Energy Association). The result of coordination between the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), WindEurope and the various national associations, Global Wind Day aims to inform the general public about wind energy through a series of public events to be held around the world: guided tours of wind farms, conferences with experts in the field and more. It is also an opportunity to reflect on this renewable energy source, so important from the point of view of ecological transition and decarbonisation.
On the occasion of Global Wind Day, Legambiente presents Wind Farms 2022, the second edition of the tourist guide to wind farms in Italy. The new edition includes eighteen wind farms located in a total of eleven Italian regions, which Legambiente illustrates with interactive maps and tourist information. This is the world’s first guide dedicated to wind farm tourism, the aim of which is to invite people to discover fascinating territories, often excluded from the most popular tourist circuits, by taking a close look at modern machines that produce energy from wind, undoubtedly among the most interesting contributions to the energy transition.
