On 12 February, the world celebrates the birthday of Charles Darwin, born in 1809 in Shrewsbury, England. A biologist, naturalist, anthropologist, geologist and explorer, Darwin revolutionised the natural sciences forever with his Theory of Evolution, which he developed from material and information gathered during his long voyages around the world aboard the brig HMS Beagle, a British navy sailing ship. In 1859 Darwin published his masterpiece The Origin of Species, a monumental book, the basis of our knowledge on the evolution of all living things. Many events are organised for Darwin Day; to find out which events will take place in your city click here.
